375 meter above sea level, plunged among secular chestnut-trees, is situated the medieval village of Marciana, with its Archaeological Etruscan-Roman museum and the ancient "Fortezza Pisana".



From the village a cableway drives you till the top of the Mount Capanne, where you can enjoy a wonderful view. The ancient Via Crucis, that beginns at the "Pisana" fortress, lead to the most ancient "Santuario della Madonna del Monte", where Napoleon lived in the period of his exile to have a best control about naval movements around the island.
